2SLGBTQIA+

2SLGBTQIA+

We are constantly impressed and moved by the strength and resilience we see in 2SLGBTQIA+ folks, both in our work and in our personal lives. Unfortunately, 2SLGBTQIA+ folks continue to face many challenges resulting, in part, from living in a world that too often meets them with discrimination or non-acceptance. 2SLGBTQIA+ folks are frequently put in positions where they are essentially asked to justify their right to exist, to be accepted, to be happy, to live authentically, and to be treated equally. This can feel all the more challenging and isolating when people outside of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community struggle to understand or acknowledge these challenges.

Research has shown that rates of depression, substance use, suicide, and other mental health challenges are common in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Of course, that is not because there is anything wrong with 2SLGBTQIA+ folks, but rather a reflection of how difficult it can be to grapple with all of the aforementioned challenges. We know first hand how hard it can be, and we care deeply about supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ clients navigate whatever difficulties might be coming up for them.

Of course, many 2SLGBTQIA+ folks seek therapy for reasons unrelated to their sexual orientation or gender. Instead, they are just looking for a safe and supportive environment to explore other areas of their life. We have experience working with 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, couples, and families to create whatever changes they are seeking. We do not make assumptions about why clients come to therapy. We take a collaborative approach and will follow your lead, making sure we focus on what you want to focus on.

Other times, 2SLGBTQIA+ folks are coming to therapy for issues related to their sexual orientation or gender. We have experience supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ clients as they explore the various challenges that sometimes come up around these issues, including: coming out, family acceptance, gender exploration, transitioning, supporting your 2SLGBTQIA+ child or family member, bullying, and workplace or school discrimination.

Whatever the reason you are considering therapy, we work hard to create a safe and supportive environment where 2SLGBTQIA+ clients know they are valued and appreciated. You deserve to be accepted for who you are, and to be supported as you navigate life’s challenges.
