What is sliding scale counselling?

Sliding scale counselling is when a clinician offers their services at a reduced rate.

Recognising that finances can act as a barrier to receiving support, we are pleased to offer sliding scale options that allow clients to work with a registered clinician at a reduced rate of service.


Who can access sliding scale counselling?

This service is available to folks who do not have access to counselling benefits and are experiencing financial hardship. Exhale Therapy reserves the right to alter, review and/or discontinue sliding scale rates in the event that a) the client has access to mental health benefits or b) the client's financial circumstances change.


Is there a waitlist for sliding scale counselling?

We have a limited number of sliding scale sessions available with each clinician. In the event that a clinician is unable to meet with you at the time of your initial inquiry, we would be happy to place you on our waiting list.


Can I pick my clinician?

Our administrative team will offer support in pairing you with a clinician based on your counselling goals and needs.


Do I need to provide proof of income?

We operate on an honour system and will never ask for proof of income. We trust clients to be integral with their use of sliding scale services, recognising that we can only offer this service to a finite number of individuals.


How much does it cost?

We recognise that everyone's circumstances are different and will gladly discuss our rates of service at the time of booking.


How many sessions can I attend?

We are thrilled to offer clients up to 10 sliding scale sessions.


What if I miss a session or cancel with less than 48 hours' notice?

Unless you are cancelling due to sickness or a personal emergency, missed sessions and late cancellations will count toward your 10-allotted sliding scale sessions.


Can I continue seeing my clinician after attending my 10-allotted sliding scale sessions?

If you'd like to continue with Exhale after your 10-allotted sliding scale sessions, we will work with you to establish a new rate of service. For more information about rate-changes, please contact our administrative team directly.
