JACQUELINE PETERS, RP (QUALIFYING)

Hi, I’m Jacqueline!

My professional background includes extensive work in positions supporting individuals with disabilities (ranging from physical to developmental) and their families. My work experiences have been in roles focused on conflict resolution, creative problem solving and implementing sustainable improved outcomes for individuals. Additionally, I am a yoga instructor, trained in modifying classes for individuals of all abilities.

My top priority in working with a client is to ensure they feel heard, and respected, and that they have a voice in their counselling experience.  Counselling is a process we work through together and the rapport that we build with one another is an essential component of the client’s success. My approach to each client is different to meet their unique needs and personality, but the foundation I build is client-centered, strengths-based, and a trauma-informed approach. I draw from attachment theory and incorporate techniques from the following therapeutic modalities: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Compassion Focused Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy.

In my personal life, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, sipping a strong cup of coffee, making time to move my body, and cooking delicious meals.  I love reading and I am a dedicated life-long learner. I strive to continue my own personal development and to live well so that I can model this for my clients and be present and engaged in my role as their therapist.
