MARGOT WALLACE, MSW, RSW

Hi, I’m Margot!

Life gets busy, and it often feels challenging to prioritize our own needs. It is a courageous step to reach out for support in this process, and I am so honoured that you are considering working with me in your journey.

When I work with clients I am compassionate and open. I value and honour the importance of our therapeutic relationship by creating a space that feels safe, non-judgemental and warm for you to be able to come as you are. Even if you are not quite sure what you are hoping to get from this process, that is just fine. I work with clients to better understand themselves, reclaim agency, and make meaning of their journey. I work from a strengths-based perspective, and strive to help you better understand your strengths and how those strengths can be applied and implemented to areas you wish to grow and cultivate in your life. The strength and skills to harness healing and growth are in you already, and it is my passion to facilitate conversations and understanding which lead to empowerment. In my practice I use tenets of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy.

Over the past few years, I have focused entirely on providing mental health support through virtual means. I meet you where you are at in your journey, and for many folks that feels more comfortable and/or accessible from home. I believe that this can strengthen your experience, and our ability to work together. I have experience providing teletherapy to all age groups with diverse backgrounds and walks of life, including the following areas: grief and loss, depression, anxiety, panic disorders, mood disorders, stress management, trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, relationships (of all kinds), body image, self-confidence & self-worth, self-acceptance, coping skills, emotion regulation, crisis management, self-harm, and suicidal ideation. I am committed to offering evidence-based, client-centred care rooted in attachment theory and strengthened by compassion.

I am a lifelong learner and value continued education and professional practice. I hold a Bachelor of Social Work from Carleton University as well as a Master of Social Work from the University of Western Ontario. I also completed a Master of Health Policy from Carleton University.

In my time outside of work I enjoy cuddling my puppy, trying new recipes, spending time with family and friends, listening to podcasts, reading, hiking (nothing too long!), and travelling the world.
