“BE CONFUSED, IT’S WHERE YOU BEGIN TO LEARN NEW THINGS. BE BROKEN, IT’S WHERE YOU BEGIN TO HEAL. BE FRUSTRATED, IT’S WHERE YOU START TO MAKE MORE AUTHENTIC DECISIONS. BE SAD, BECAUSE IF WE ARE BRAVE ENOUGH WE CAN HEAR OUR HEART’S WISDOM THROUGH IT. BE WHATEVER YOU ARE RIGHT NOW. NO MORE HIDING. YOU ARE WORTHY, ALWAYS.” — S.C. LOURIE

MARY CROME, MSW, RSW

Hi, I’m Mary!

I want to start by celebrating you and your drive to start this journey.  Whatever brings you here, you have been brave and powerful to take these steps.  When it comes to therapy the most important thing to have, with your therapist, is chemistry and I am honoured that you would read my bio and consider me for your journey.

I have a number of passions that guide my work.  I passionately believe in the inner wisdom of the human being and the innate, natural ability to heal. You are the expert in your life, and you know best what works for you. I am committed to working collaboratively with you to explore the techniques, strategies and tools that fit for you; all the while, celebrating your strengths, talents, and gifts. I also firmly believe in the power of community.  I can help you to map your community, find resources and build on what you have.  I believe every human being has a gift to contribute and that we feel most fulfillment when we have the opportunities to contribute our gifts—I can help you find your gift and build  opportunities  in  abundant community.

My approach to counselling is Trauma Informed and strength based.  I am qualified to help you to process trauma from long-term childhood abuse and/or immediate situations like sexual assault, Birth Trauma, or First Responders. I draw on other modalities as it applies to your particular situation weaving a tapestry of techniques into a Therapy that covers you.   When working with addiction, I believe that all coping is good coping!  I focus my work on exploring with you coping strategies you can add to your repertoire while processing the traumas that hold you back from accomplishing all that you want to.

I love working with individuals, families, teens and polycules. I believe polyamory is a beautiful way of expressing abundant love and I am highly interested in supporting polyamorous families. I also love supporting parents. I am certified as a Perinatal Mental Health Counsellor and can help with issues that surround pregnancy birth, parenting, and loss. I bring a unique life experience into working with families of individuals with different abilities such that I can support parents who are raising incredibly beautiful and differently abled young people to find strategies, support and community.  I can help couples, families and individuals with transitions, connection and communication.

Outside of work, I love hiking, canoeing and portage camping, playing guitar and making cups of tea out in the wilderness with my Kelly kettle.

I’m excited to meet and support you!
