NICOLE BIRD, RP (QUALIFYING)

Hi, I’m Nicole (She/Her)!

Thank you for reading my bio and exploring the right fit for you throughout your therapeutic journey. This is a significant first step toward your overall healing process, and I am grateful to be a part of it. I want to acknowledge that you are an expert in yourself, and I am here to collaboratively work with you on any of your concerns, goals, and overall well-being. As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), I am a warm, humorous, positive, direct, and encouraging individual. I work with you holistically to help you address your concerns to begin and or continue living a fulfilling life. Therapy is a collaborative process, and our therapeutic relationship is a vital component in the therapeutic journey to ensure your needs are being met.

I have an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Family Child Studies from the University of Guelph and have completed my Masters in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University. Working within the field for 8 + years now, I have been employed and exposed to many social services paid and volunteer positions at multiple concurrent mental health facilities providing myself with exposure to many physical and cognitive abilities and disabilities, substance abuse treatments and other mental illnesses in age ranges from 16 +. Many individuals I have worked and volunteered with have been clients treating their substance abuse and addictions while dealing with problematic family histories/backgrounds and struggling with other concurrent disorders. I have worked with individuals struggling with body and self-esteem concerns/ goals, substance abuse concerns, and family and relationship conflicts, providing various supports, including one-to-one peer counselling, emotional and physical support, family navigation support, and crisis intervention support. Furthermore, I am passionate about supporting individuals throughout their life journey, specifically those dealing with body image and self-esteem concerns/ goals, substance abuse concerns, family conflicts and relationships, and personal growth.

My top priority is working with my clients to ensure they feel respected and heard. Together, we can reflect and explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in a safe, non-judgmental space. I encourage my clients to work through reflection and self-awareness to reach self-acceptance. I value a strong therapeutic relationship and check in regularly to ensure the therapeutic process works for you and your goals. I can’t wait to meet you and support you throughout your journey to self-discovery and healing.
